The Chakras are an ideal roadmap for personal growth and development. In 2017 we started our journey through the Chakras and focused on one energy center a month. We are going to keep on going in 2018! On our monthly adventure, I am going to educate you about a Chakra and then ask you to contemplate its function and roll in your own personal growth. March brings us to the Hip Chakras, minor chakras on each side of your body, at the center of the hip. These chakras influence and regulate Kundalini and are connected to the Root chakra. The Hip Chakras and Kundalini are here to remind us that the Spiritual path is a journey, not a destination. We want to take it slow and easy and do the work…integrating and processing our lessons along the way. Healing is not easy and ‘enlightenment’ is a process and not something that you can just achieve overnight. This month, the Hip Chakras ask you – do you do the work, or do you just want to get there now?

Brief Overview of the Chakras: Our subtle energy bodies are made up of numerous energy channels that all together form a matrix. These channels flow through and around the body like highways of energy. These flows of energy are known as nadis in the Vedic tradition and meridians in the Chinese Medicine tradition. Where these flows of energy crisscross and intersect is where the chakras are formed. The Chakras are energy centers and vortexes in our subtle body. Seven large energy channels crisscross to form the major chakras (Root to Crown). These large energy channels are the flow of manifestation, liberation, expression, reception, ida, pingala, and sushumna. Minor chakras form where the lesser nadis cross. As there are many nadis, so there are many minor chakras.

The Chakras are openings for life energy to flow into and out of our aura or electromagnetic field. There are main Chakras, minor, subpersonal, and transpersonal Chakras. The Chakras’ function is to vitalize the physical body and to bring about the development of our self-consciousness. Each Chakra is associated with certain physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual interactions. Each Chakra has personal growth themes, functions, and purposes.  The concept of the Chakras has been around for thousands of years; but the energy coming to us from the cosmos is changing. We are receiving potent and new energies of high frequency light from the universe. The main Chakras (Root to Crown) were appropriate for us these past 2000 years. As we move into a new era, chakras above, inside, and below the physical body are forming and others are waking up from dormancy to help us evolve into our new future. Our journey through the Chakras will focus on ALL of these Chakras; main, minor, subpersonal, and transpersonal.

The Hip Chakras are minor Chakras located on each side of your body, at the center of the hip. There is one on each hip. These energy centers are usually seen as some shade of deep red, pink, or magenta. These chakras influence and regulate Kundalini. Please do not assume that a minor Chakra is not as important as a major Chakra; all the energy centers work together to keep us whole, complete, and balanced. Minor Chakras each work with a Major Chakra. The Hips work with the Root Chakra. Kundalini (also known as Shakti) is a great, primal, feminine, creative energy that exists in everyone in the area of the Root Chakra, usually in a dormant, sleeping state. This means that most people are not aware of it, do not feel it, and have no idea it is there. Kundalini remains dormant until one is ready for it and until one awakens it (usually through meditation, breathwork, yoga, or other personal growth and spiritual practices). Kundalini energy represents pure potential and when awakened releases an intense amount of energy. Kundalini is typically represented as serpent or a snake and lies coiled. When it becomes activated, it uncoils and starts to rise through Sushumna, the Great Central Channel (along spine from tailbone to top of head). The main chakras are located along the Great Central Channel. Kundalini moves up from the Root through each one of the Chakras and comes out the top of the head (Crown Chakra). This process is known as Kundalini rising. According to Buddhist, Hindu, and Tantric beliefs, when Kundalini rises through the Chakras and passes the Crown Chakra, she unites with Shiva, which is the great, primal, masculine energy of the Universe. When these energies unite, you become one with the cosmic consciousness while still in your human body. This state is blissful and ecstatic and is known as nirvana or enlightenment. You have had a spiritual experience or a peak experience. Kundalini energy then goes back down your Chakras and rests once again in the Root Chakra. The Hip Chakras are gatekeepers and help regulate this energy and prevent Kundalini from rising before you are ready. Sometimes it can become awakened “accidently” when a person is not ready for it. This can either be a profound opportunity for personal evolution or personal devastation. Kundalini can be prematurely activated by intense/rushed spiritual work (for example, getting attuned to all three levels of Reiki at once instead of completing the process one at a time), childbirth, psychotropic drugs, sexual orgasms, and ecstatic religious experiences. When a person activates Kundalini before they are ready (known as a Spontaneous Kundalini Awakening), they may experience it as a Spiritual Emergency. A Spiritual Emergency is a Transpersonal Psychology term that means a person is having intense disruptive spiritual and psychic experiences and struggle with processing it and integrating it into their psyche. They do not have the tools to help them cope with their experience. They can feel scattered and broken. Can feel scared, uneasy, anxious, and depressed. Can experience insomnia, psychic phenomenon, nightmares, intense heat, chills, involuntarily movements, and body discomfort. In Transpersonal Psychology, spiritual crises can mimic mental illness. This is why it is important to slowly awaken Kundalini, work with knowledgeable and experienced healers and teachers, and not rush your spiritual journey.

March 2018 Hip Chakra Contemplation and Suggestions: Contemplate your spiritual journey this month. Do you understand your experience? Do you do the work, or do you just want to get there now? Do you do too much too fast? Do you take it slow and easy and move on when appropriate?  When you do spiritual and personal growth work, you clear out energies that no longer serve you a purpose. These energies include old patterns of behavior, old emotions, karma, ect. You also take in higher energies and white light. If you take in higher vibrations too fast for your personality, you can experience spiritual emergencies such as dark night of the soul or Kundalini Awakening. It’s important to slowly integrate new energies and make them a part of your personality. The following are some suggested integration activities:

• Journal your experience
• Draw or paint your experience
• Make Mandalas
• Talk to someone about your experience
• Counseling, Contemplation, and Processing
• Yoga with an experienced yogi/teacher
• Get a Reiki or energy work session from an experienced practitioner

Here is an Integration Meditation to help you on your journey:

Find a quiet, comfortable place for yourself–where you will not be disturbed. Create a relaxing atmosphere. You may want to light a candle, light incense, or play some quiet, soothing music in the background. Begin to relax in general. Take some deep breathes. Notice how you experience yourself and any feelings and emotions you are experiencing before doing this meditation exercise. Then close your eyes, relax, breathe deeply, and focus your attention inward… Be aware of yourself as a spiritual being, made of energy. Begin to open up your awareness of the field of energy around your physical body. Notice if your energy is close and tight around your body, or spread out far away from your body. What do you see in your energy field? Do you see energy that no longer serves you a higher purpose? Do you see energy you have released as a result of healing work? Do you see other people’s energy that you have accumulated? We are going to release all energy in our energy field or aura, that is not ours or that no longer serves us a purpose. Watch as that energy flows down towards the earth to be transformed. Now, call for all your higher energies to return to you and begin to pull them into your center. Begin to draw your energy field/aura closer to you, around you to about an arm’s length around your body…Draw your aura an arm’s length in front, at the back, left and right sides, above your head and below your feet. Wrap yourself in your own energy an arm’s length all the way around you…Notice what that’s like… Your aura is your personal space–define it, own it, enjoy it. You’ve created an energy boundary. State to yourself, I am whole and complete, I am whole and complete. I am integrated. My personality, mind, emotions, heart, soul, physical body and spirit are all one. I understand my experience. I do my spiritual work slowly and smoothly. I will not rush. The spiritual quest is a journey and I will do the work. When you feel ready, take a few deep breaths, gently open your eyes, and slowly begin to move. Notice how you experience yourself after doing this exercise. Give yourself some time to integrate this experience and enjoy being relaxed before moving on to other activities. (Especially after you first start practicing this meditation–you may want to journal, create arts, have a cup of tea, or go for a quiet walk.) Much love and many blessings this month~ Dr. Christina

February 2018 Knee Chakra Reading

February 2018 Knee Chakra Reading

The Chakras are an ideal roadmap for personal growth and development. In 2017 we started our journey through the Chakras and focused on one energy center a month. We are going to keep on going in 2018! On our monthly adventure, I am going to educate you about a Chakra and then ask you to contemplate its function and roll in your own personal growth. February brings us to the Knee Chakras, minor chakras on the back of the knees; in the hollows of the knee joint. These chakras influence your progress and forward movement. This month, the Knee Chakras ask you – What is keeping you from moving forward in life? Do you have goals and dreams you have trouble achieving no matter how hard you try?

The Knee Chakras are minor Chakras located on the back of the knees, in the hollow portion. There is one on each knee. These energy centers are usually seen as some shade of brown, deep red, or magenta. These chakras influence your emotional, personal, and spiritual progress and forward movement. Please do not assume that a minor Chakra is not as important as a major Chakra; all the energy centers work together to keep us whole, complete, and balanced. Minor Chakras each work with a Major Chakra. The Knees work with the Root Chakra. The Root Chakra area (and corresponding minor chakras) is where many primal emotions are processed and released to the earth to be transmuted. When we allow these emotions to take up residence and do not release them and let them flow through us, they can become ‘stuck’ and influence our life in negative and unwanted ways. Fear often inhabits the Knee Chakras…. fear of change, fear of success, fear of death, fear of losing control, fear of the unknown, etc. These fears hold us back, stop us from moving forward, and effect our progress in life.

February 2018 Knee Chakra Forecast: The emotion of fear is similar to being afraid, scared, worried, anxious. These are low vibrating emotions related to survival. Evolutionary wise, these emotions were a response to danger and often helped us save our lives through fight or flight. In modern times, we are often fearful of things that truly do not threaten our physical survival. So this month, explore what keeps you from moving forward in life? Are you stuck? Do you have goals and dreams you have trouble achieving no matter how hard you try? Or do you not even try because you are afraid? What blocks your progress? Is it fear? What are you afraid of? Why? Does it really threaten your survival and well-being, or does it push you out of your comfort zone and make you uncomfortable? Take some time to self-reflect on your fears. Then, release those fears down to the earth to be transformed through your Foot Chakras (Chakras we covered last month). Try the following chakra activity. We are going to connect your Knee Chakras to your Foot Chakras. Put your left hand on your left knee and your right hand on your left foot. Have the intent that you want to boost and increase the flow of energy and communication between your Knee and Foot Chakras. Keep your hands in place for a few minutes. Allow the energy to flow back and forth. You may feel heat, pulsing, or tingling. Then, repeat with the right side. Place your right hand on your right knee and your left had on your right foot. Have the intent that you want to boost and increase the flow of energy and communication between your Knee and Foot Chakras. Keep your hands in place for a few minutes. Allow the energy to flow back and forth. As these chakras connect, release what no longer serves you a higher purpose down to the earth to be transformed. Much love and many blessings this month~ Dr. Christina

November 2017 Soul Star Chakra Reading

November 2017 Soul Star Chakra Reading
By Christina Wilke-Burbach PhD, RMT, CA
Mind, Soul, and Self LLC
mindsoulandself.com

The Chakras are an ideal roadmap for personal growth and development. In 2017 we are journeying through the Chakras and focusing on one Chakra a month. November brings us to the Soul Star Chakra, a transpersonal chakra and the blueprint of your soul. It holds the record of all you ever were and all you ever will become. It holds all your past lives and your future lives. This month, the Soul Star asks you to explore why you reincarnated at this time. What are your soul lessons and life purpose?

Brief Overview of Chakras: The Chakras are the main energy centers in our subtle body. They are the openings for life energy to flow into and out of our aura or electromagnetic field. The 7 main chakras were appropriate for us these past 2000 years. As we move into a new era, new chakras above and below the physical body are forming and others are waking up from dormancy to help us evolve into our new future.

The Soul Star Chakra is a Transpersonal Chakra and is located about 6 inches above the top of the head, above the crown chakra. It is not in our physical body, but in our etheric/energy body. Its color is usually seen as white, silver, gold, ultraviolet, or iridescent. The Soul Star Stores the soul’s highest purpose above and beyond all individual incarnations. The soul’s blueprint. It is through this chakra that a soul enters a physical body during incarnation. After death, the seed of an enlightened being remains in the soul star. You enter the Soul Star when you die to gain perspective on your life. It connects to higher self, Soul purpose, life tasks, soul groups, soul mates, and pre-destined soul contracts. Our entire being’s karmic residue, those energy patterns that you have held on to for more than one lifetime, is held in the eighth chakra carrying thought forms created over the life of our entire being caused by other lives actions and community consciousness. When attuned and activated, the Soul Star allows access to the Akashic records, the soul’s intent in this particular incarnation, stores the soul’s highest purpose above and beyond all individual incarnations.

November 2017 Soul Star Chakra Forecast: Henry Bolduc was a certified hypnotherapist with almost 40 years’ experience in past-life research. Through his work, he believed “every soul reincarnates in a particular lifetime for one of three reasons. First, we may reap the benefits of grace resulting from the good we have done for others in the past; second, we may correct our faults, thus balancing our good and bad deeds – referred to as karma; and third, we may experience life in such a way that we can contribute to the ocean of life.” This month, the higher energies want you to explore your purpose in this lifetime and your reasons for incarnating. Are you here to receive blessings and grace for good deeds in a previous incarnation? Are you here to continue to learn soul lessons? Are you here a healer and visionary to raise the vibration and help heal the world and humanity during these difficult times?

Soul Star Chakra Aromatherapy Blend
• 8 drops Palo Santo essential oil
• 8 drops Elemi essential oil
• 8 drops Frankincense oil
• 8 drops Myrrh essential oil
• 8 drops Angelica essential oil
• 4 ounces distilled water

The above blend is meant for a spray or mister. Blend the essential oils into 1 teaspoon of vodka or witch hazel (to help disperse the oils into water) and then blend into 4 ounces of distilled water in a spray bottle. Mix well. Spray the blend above your head and feel the mist fall down on you. Inhale the aroma and visualize your soul star chakra glowing brightly as a white golden ball of light about 6 inches above your head. As you do this, state the following affirmations: “I am connected to all my past lives and all my future lives. I am connected to my soul group and soul’s mates. I connect to higher self, Soul purpose, life tasks and pre-destined soul contracts. I release my karmic residue.”

June 2017 Throat Chakra Reading

June 2017 Throat Chakra Reading
By Christina Wilke-Burbach PhD, RMT, CA
Mind, Soul, and Self LLC
mindsoulandself.com

The Chakras are an ideal roadmap for personal growth and development. In 2017 we are journeying through the Chakras and focusing on one Chakra a month. June brings us to the Throat Chakra, the center of communication and self-expression. This month, the Throat Chakra asks you to examine the story of your life; are you the author creating your own story, or do you let others write your story for you? Are you the main character in your life story or are you just secondary? Is your life story truthful or a work of fiction? Do you speak the truth to yourself and others?

Brief Overview of Chakras: The Chakras are the main energy centers in our subtle body. They are the openings for life energy to flow into and out of our aura or electromagnetic field. The concept of the Chakras has been around for thousands of years.

The Throat Chakra is located in the throat and neck. It is the center of communication, expression, and where we experience the world non-verbally through vibration, sound, symbols, myths, and archetypes. The Throat Chakra teaches us lessons about self-expression. The Sanskrit name is Vishudda, which means “the pure place” or “especially pure.” So naturally, we must ask ourselves: Is my communication pure? Am I true to my word? Do I express myself both verbally and non-verbally with truth and clarity? Some Throat Chakra needs that must be met for healing and transcendence to occur include the ability to express one’s self non-verbally (through body language, music, art, etc), healthy verbal communication, and an appreciation for art and beauty.

June 2017 Throat Chakra Forecast: The Throat Chakra is the gateway for truth and communication. Stories are stored in the subconsciousness and told through the Throat Chakra. The Throat Chakra is where we access the archetypes, myths, and symbols that help give our life meaning, purpose, and guide our character traits and personalities. We are the storytellers of our life. It’s time to evaluate and critique your life story. Are you the author creating your own story, or do you let others write your story for you? Are you the main character in your life story or are you just secondary? Is your awareness, energy, and attention always on someone or something else? Is your life story truthful or a work of fiction? Do you speak the truth to yourself and others? What’s the biggest lie you have told yourself about your life and why it is where it is now? As the storyteller, you alone have the power to edit, rewrite, and modify things in your life that are no longer working for you. You are powerful over your situation.

Throat Chakra Aromatherapy Blend

    • 3 drops German (Blue) chamomile essential oil
    • 4 drops Rosemary essential oil
    • 5 drops Sage essential oil
    • 1 ounce of a vegetable oil like coconut, jojoba, or almond

Blend the essential oils into the vegetable oil then massage some over the throat and neck area. As you do this, repeat the following affirmations: “My thoughts are positive and I always express myself both verbally and non-verbally with truth and clarity. I am the storyteller of my life and have power over each and every situation.” Seal your intent by participating in a throat chakra activity such as singing, chanting, or listening to music.

March 2017 Solar Plexus Chakra Reading

March 2017 Solar Plexus Chakra Reading
By Christina Wilke-Burbach PhD, RMT, CA
Mind, Soul, and Self LLC
mindsoulandself.com

The Chakras are an ideal roadmap for personal growth and development.  In 2017 we are focusing on one Chakra a month. March brings us to the Solar Plexus Chakra, the seat of personal power, autonomy, and dynamic energy. This month, I ask you to focus on who or what you give your energy away to or who takes your energy away from you….

Brief Overview of Chakras: The Chakras are the main energy centers in our subtle body. They are the openings for life energy to flow into and out of our aura or electromagnetic field. The concept of the Chakras has been around for thousands of years.

The Solar Plexus Chakra is located in the center of your body, in the area of your diaphragm. It is the seat of Personal Power, Will, Determination, Motivation, Vital Energy, Self-Esteem/Image, Personality, Ego, Personal Transformation, and Achievement. It represents the element fire and is associated with the Sun and the planet Mars. The Solar Plexus is where our warrior energy is located; where we fight for what’s right, true, and just. The Solar Plexus is your own little personal sunshine. This is where you learn to create boundaries for yourself; physical, emotional, and energetic boundaries. You learn to say no, be assertive, and stand up for yourself. You learn where you end and where others begin. You learn not to take on other’s problems. This is where you learn to be an individual, to be free, and to self-regulate.

March 2017 Solar Plexus Forecast: Have you been more drained, depleted, tired, fatigued, stressed, and irritable than usual? Have you been experiencing more anxiety, headaches or stomachaches? All these can be symptoms of a malfunctioning Solar Plexus. And unfortunately, many times this can happen because we allow it to happen by having poor boundaries. The center of your personal power and autonomy can go haywire because other people’s energy may be invading your energy field or because you have given your energy away to others. We never want to give our energy away and we never want to take on others’ energy. Take a moment and close your eyes, tuning into the energy that runs through you and around you. Does it feel like someone else’s energy is there? Have you allowed another to take your energy from you? No one can take your energy from you unless you allow it. So contemplate, meditate, and focus on who or what you give your energy away to or who takes your energy away from you. Why do you allow this to happen? This month, the universe is encouraging you to take your power back.

Solar Plexus Chakra Energy Cleansing Blend
• 5 drops Sage essential oil
• 5 drops Grapefruit essential oil
• 5 drops Juniper essential oil
• 5 drops Lemon essential oil
• 1 tablespoon vodka or witch hazel
• 2-ounce spray bottle
• Distilled water

Directions: Place the vodka or witch hazel in the spray bottle (this acts as a dispersant since water and oils do not mix). Add the essential oils then the gently swirl to blend together. Add the distilled water. Shake well. Use the spray to cleanse your energy field, aura, and space. As you spray the blend, have the intent that you are cleansing away negative, dense, dark energy and redirecting the energies to the divine to be transformed into more useful energy. If you are an energy or Reiki practitioner, you can infuse the bottle with high vibrating energy before you use it.

The Wounded Healer

The Wounded Healer
By Christina Wilke-Burbach PhD, RMT, CA
mindsoulandself.com

The Edge Magazine December issue just came out today and had a phenomenal article on “The Role of the Wounded Healer.” I have been thinking about it all day.  My thoughts: The Wounded Healer, Chiron, and the Modern Day Shaman are concepts I deeply resonate with as today I celebrated exactly 10.5 years of recovery from drug and alcohol addiction and that related lifestyle (domestic abuse, divorce, depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, etc). I believe I am better able to serve and relate to others as a healer, teacher, and guide through emergence into my own personal hell and subsequently facing/fighting those demons. I am not perfect, I still struggle with many issues. But Personal growth is a journey, not a destination. I believe a true healer is humpty dumpty, s/he fell off a wall, shattered, broke, but did not lay there….s/he put themself back together again…better and stronger than they ever were before. In order to heal and become whole, one must first fall apart. You can’t learn that in any school or any class. So take your pain, take your darkness and use it as fuel to light up the world for others. Fall apart, but don’t just lie there, get back up and become whole and complete.

From the article:

“Wounded Healers understand how to make their lives whole again by restoring spirit, despite the open wound that will never fully heal. They have learned to meet the challenge of pain and cope with it, rejuvenating themselves with vitality and life. They have returned to wholeness, despite the gaping wound. And they have innate understanding of how they did that. The wounded healer instinctively knows what the rest of us grope in darkness to discover outside mundane reality and instinctively shares this gift of spirit. The wounded healer knows that there is more to us than our physical body and that non-physical wounds can make us totally sick. So wounded healers can communicate non-verbally and without physical contact as empathic healers who connect spirit-to-spirit with their ailing friends. They understand the pain and where it is found, as they have been to this place and returned from the arduous journey, alive and wiser.”~ Von Brashler. The Shadow

The Shadow

As a counselor with 19 years of experience working in the mental health and personal growth fields, one thing I have noticed is that individuals on the “spiritual” path tend to reject the notion of darkness in their personality. We all have a dark side. Carl Jung called this the “shadow” or black part of our personality. We all have inner demons and devils in our psyche. Rejecting this pushes them further into your unconsciousness. True healing means becoming whole. It also means you must assimilate your shadow into your personality. Admit you have a shadow and confront it. Own it…it’s yours. How can you know your light if you don’t know your darkness?

These are the places you can go to in your psyche. They are challenging and difficult and confronting; the courage it takes is amazing and yet, for those of us who are willing to confront it and go that deep, there are huge payoffs.” ~ Thoman Dann
